Lionel Messi announced his retirement from international football after Argentina lost to Chile in the Copa America final on Sunday.

The 29-year-old hung up his boots after becoming his country’s highest goal scorer with 55 goals during the Copa America tournament. He went past Gabriel Batistuta, who had 54 international goals to his name.

Messi, who made his debut in 2005, played 113 times for his country.

As one of the greatest footballers of all time walks into the sunset as far as the international arena is concerned, The Quint takes a look at the top ten goals scored by Messi in his international career.
