Three back-to-back half centuries in the recently concluded T20 series and Virat Kohli has replaced Aaron Finch as the top ranked T20 batsman in the ICC’s latest rankings.
With scores of 90*, 59* and 50 in the three-match series, Kohli picked up 47 ratings points to accumulate a total of 892.
Aussie skipper Aaron Finch, who was forced out of the final T20 due to a hamstring injury, collected a total of 14 points in the series after scoring 44 and 74 in Adelaide and Melbourne.
Apart from Virat Kohli, the other Indian batsman in the top 20 are Suresh Raina who moved up three places to 13, and Rohit Sharma also moved up four places to 16th.
Ashwin as Number 2
In the T20 rankings for bowlers, the top Indian is Ravi Ashwin who picked up four wickets and conceded 91 runs in his 12 overs against Australia.
West Indies spinner Sunil Narine, who is currently banned by the ICC due to an illegal bowling action takes up the top spot.
India Number 1
The latest rankings also confirmed India’s ascension to No.1 in the world, while Australia have plummeted to eighth spot following the 3-0 series defeat. The new rankings come as all nations fine-tune their preparation for the World T20 in India in March and April, the sixth version of the Twenty20 international showpiece event.
