Cricket Australia on Monday, 15 April, announced its 15-member squad for the World Cup led by Aaron Finch.

Meanwhile, Australian duo of Steve Smith and David Warner who were held for the infamous ball tampering incident in March 2018, found their way back into the team.

The absence of Josh Hazlewood and Peter Handscomb came as a big surprise and a disappointment to a lot of individuals.

Although, some pundits hailed the team as a “strong one,” Twitter remained divided over the announced team.

‘Strong & Disappointing’: Experts Divided Over Aus WC Squad

Former Australian skipper Michael Clarke took it to Twitter and called the selected squad a “strong” one with a “lot of experience.”

Cricket expert, Harsha Bhogle who also reiterated Clarke’s claims, but indicated that the team was “short” of a reserve keeper and a batsman.

"Australia have picked a strong squad for their defence of the World Cup. But I wonder if they are a batsman and reserve wicket keeper short. That is why I thought they would pick Handscomb instead of one of the fast bowlers,” he said.

Meanwhile some fans hailed the return of Smith and Warner, some viewed the slected squad as a ‘strange team.’
