A tough chase for India in the ICC World Cup semi-final against New Zealand and Ravindra Jadeja has stepped up to give fans hope of a victory in Manchester.

The all-rounder came out to bat at the fall of the 6th wicket when Hardik Pandya was caught on 32.

With some of the bigger names in the team falling early, Jadeja has put together a solid partnership with MS Dhoni and become the first player in the squad to score a half century in this game.

In the 42nd over, Jadeja hit Neesham for a boundary off the fourth ball and then took a double off the next delivery to reach his half century, his first in nearly five years. A timely one for India as the team nears the 240-run target set by the Kiwis.

Not part of the Indian XI that Virat Kohli started the World Cup with, Jadeja has now taken over the responsibility of staying at the crease with MS Dhoni and getting the team past the finish line in this all-important semi-final.

His contribution, of course, was much appreciated on Twitter.
