Paralympic javelin thrower Devendra Jhajharia, who won the gold medal in the 2016 Rio Paralympics, has been recommended for the Rajiv Gandhi Khel Ratna Award. It is the country's highest honour for sportspersons.
The two-time Paralympic gold-medallist Devendra Jhajharia has become the first paralympian to have been nominated for the award. Former Indian hockey captain, Sardar Singh is the second choice for the award.
Even though the final decision is yet to be announced by the sports ministry, Twitteratti did not waste time in congratulating the champion.
