Indian cricketer Ravichandran Ashwin, known to experiment with his deliveries and bowling action, is making good use of his stint in the Tamil Nadu Premier League (TNPL) to hone his unique bowling styles.
After he was seen bowling with a rather unique action in his first match of the TNPL, Ashwin once again left the spectators perplexed with his rather unique action.
Ashwin was bowling the last over against Madurai Panthers when the incident happened. He hid the ball behind his back and then looped it towards the batsman without giving him any pace. Kiran Akash, the batsman in question hit it down the ground but only managed to find a fielder.
Playing for Dindigul Dragons, Ashwin tried a similar thing against Chepauk Super Gillies in the season-opener. With Chepauk needing 17 runs off just two balls, the off-spinner delivered the ball without a full action as his non-bowling arm remained unmoved and he completed the run-up by releasing the ball on his left foot. He nearly got a wicket as the ball missed the stumps by a whisker.
The Dindigul Dragons went on to win both the matches and are now sitting pretty at the top of the table with two wins from as many matches.
Ashwin, who was playing County cricket for Surrey prior to taking part in the T20 tournament, will soon be travelling to West Indies after he was selected to be a part of the Test team for the West Indies tour.
