After strikes on terrorist camps across the LoC on Tuesday, 26 February, Indian sportspersons across disciplines hailed the Indian Air Force.
In a major “preemptive” action, India struck Jaish-e-Mohammed’s (JeM) biggest terror camp, killing scores of militants and trainers, Foreign Secretary Vijay Gokhale said on Tuesday. The move comes days after the Pulwama terror attack, in which 40 jawans were martyred after an explosives-laden vehicle rammed into a CRPF convoy in Jammu and Kashmir.
Olympic medallist and wrestler Yogeshwar Dutt wrote in a tweet, “The battle that has started is not going to stop now. Those who attacked our brave, will not be spared. The Indian Air Force’s feat has made the entire nation swell with pride (sic).”
Among other wrestlers who lauded the IAF were Vinesh Phogat and Sakshi Malik. “A truly beautiful good morning. Thanks Narendra Modi sir. And brave hearts of our Indian army. JAI HIND. Proud Indian (sic).”
Badminton players Kidambi Srikanth, Saina Nehwal and HS Prannoy also "saluted” the Indian Air Force for the strikes.
Sachin Tendulkar, Virender Sehwag, Gautam Gambhir, Shikhar Dhawan and Yuzvendra Chahal were among the many cricketers who reacted after India’s retaliatory action against Pakistan.
