BCCI President Sourav Ganguly, who was present at the Eden Gardens in Kolkata on the very first day of India’s maiden Day and Night Test against Bangladesh on Friday, 22 November, shared a selfie he took in the stadium with all his fans in the background.
The Eden Gardens was fully packed as fans came to witness the first ever Day-Night Test being played on Indian soil. Ganguly played a huge part in making all this happen as he convinced not just the Indian team but also the Bangladesh Cricket Board to agree to play this changed format match.
Bangladesh PM Sheikh Hasina, West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee and Sourav Ganguly rang the bell at the iconic Eden Gardens stadium before the match.
Various former cricketers also marked their presence on this historic day. Sachin Tendulkar, Anil Kumble, VVS Laxman and Harbhajan Singh relived some of the iconic moments at the famous venue in Kolkata, including the 1993 Hero Cup final versus West Indies and the 2001 Test versus Australia.
