Indian badminton’s newest ‘Mr and Mrs’ are already back in the grind, attending practice sessions and training for the upcoming Premier Badminton League. But between all that, Saina Nehwal and Parupalli Kashyap took time out in Mumbai last night to attend the reception of Priyanka Chopra and Nick Jonas.
Saina married fellow Indian badminton player and Commonwealth Games Gold medallist Parupalli Kashyap on 16 December, a day she had earlier confessed was the only date she could free up in her busy calendar. The couple married in a private ceremony with only close family in attendance before having a reception later over the weekend in Hyderabad.
"I will get busy with the Premier Badminton League from 20 December and then qualifiers for the Tokyo Games will begin. So this was the only date that we had to get married," Saina was quoted as saying by The Times of India.
The sports stars were both in Mumbai on Thursday night, ahead of the opening ceremony of the fourth season of the PBL that starts on Friday and took time out to make a quick stop at Taj Lands End to wish the new Jonas’.
Saina wore a gold lehenga by JADE by Monica and Karishma with her husband sporting a grey suit. They were accompanied by fellow badminton player Gurusai Dutt.
