After a second-straight win in Nagpur, the Indian cricket team landed in Ranchi – the hometown of Mahendra Singh Dhoni – for their third One Day International against Australia on Wednesday, 6 March.
Amid talks of his retirement post the ICC World Cup this year, wicketkeeper-batsman and former captain Dhoni hosted the entire squad at his residence ahead of the match.
Indian skipper Kohli posted a photo with teammates Yuzvendra Chahal, Dhoni, Kuldeep Yadav and Rishabh Pant. He wrote, “Great night with the boys at Mahi bhai’s place last night. Good food, fun chats all around and great energy. Perfect team evening”.
In their last international assignment ahead of the ICC World Cup 2019, India are two-up in the five-match series after wins at Hyderabad and Nagpur.
A 3-0 unassailable lead would be a perfect parting gift for Ranchi's favourite son, who, in all likelihood, will be seen wearing the India Blues for the last time at his home ground.
Wicketkeeper-batsman Rishabh Pant shared a picture of the gathering at a social media platform.
"Bhabhiji ruining our fitness levels?????? Super fun evening with fam-jam ! Thank you @msdhoni and @SaakshiSRawat for hosting us #goodtimes," Panty wrote on his twitter handle.
Indian spinner Chahal and opener Shikhar Dhawan too put up photos from the evening. Chahal wrote, “Thank you for last night MS Dhoni bhai and Sakshi bhabhi”.
Just like the Sunil Gavaskar stand at the Wankhede Stadium in Mumbai or the Virender Sehwag gate at the Feroz Shah Kotla in Delhi, the Jharkhand State Cricket Association (JSCA) stadium will have its very own 'Mahendra Singh Dhoni Pavilion’. Ahead of the third ODI at Ranchi, Dhoni had politely declined to inaugurate the pavilion named after him.
