MS Dhoni pulled off a tight finish for India just like old times to silence his critics after captain Virat Kohli laid the foundation for a series-levelling six-wicket win against Australia with his 39th ODI hundred in Adelaide on Tuesday, 15 January.

After Kohli was dismissed in the 44th over for 104, Dhoni took up the chase and carried India to a victory which will see the series decided on 18 January in the third ODI at Melbourne.

India came to the final over needing seven runs to win and Dhoni smashed the first ball over the long straight boundaries at the Adelaide Oval for a six which tied the scores, then clinched the win with a single from the next ball.

Former India cricketers Sachin Tendulkar, VVS Laxman, Virender Sehwag among others lauded Kohli’s ton, Dhoni, and Dinesh Karthik’s 14-ball 25 after the win.
