Chris Gayle, also known as the Universe Boss, turned 40 on 21 September, Saturday. The stylish left-hander received birthday greetings from all his friends and fans across the globe. But one such wish stands out amongst the others. That is of his Kings XI Punjab opening partner, KL Rahul.

KL Rahul tweeted to wish his Carribean friend and took a dig at him by saying: “Don’t blush boss”. Rahul was referring to an old controversy that took place in the year 2016.

Here’s his tweet:

The Controversy

Tournament: Big Bash League

Match: Hobart Hurricanes vs Melbourne Renegades

Stadium: Bellerive Oval, Hobart, Tasmania.

Date: 4 January, 2016

Chris Gayle, after playing a blistering knock of 41 off 15 balls was giving a post-innings interview to Australian reporter Mel McLaughlin. While answering her questions, he kept on passing sexist remarks and that made the interviewer uncomfortable.

He said, “So hopefully we can win this game and we can have a drink after. Don’t blush, baby,” to the interviewer.

Soon after, people started reacting to this on social media. They bashed Gayle for passing such lewd remarks and requested the authorities to punish him for his actions.

Here’s a clip from that interview:

Twitter Reacts to KL Rahul

Rahul’s attempt to be funny was not appreciated by the Twitter community and they weren’t shy to share their thoughts with him, reminding him that he’d already gotten into trouble over his Koffee With Karan episode alongside Hardik Pandya.

Here are some of the reactions to Rahul’s tweets:

This user literally fell short of words.

All one can say is that KL Rahul always finds a way to stay in news, though not for the right reasons. This year has not been good for Rahul at all. First the Koffee With Karan controversy followed by a string of low scores which cost him his place in the test squad for the upcoming test series against South Africa.
