Chris Gayle remained unbeaten on 99 off 64 balls as Kings XI Punjab posted 173/4 in their 20 overs in Mohali. Gayle who has six IPL centuries to his name narrowly missed his seventh.
His knock consisted of 10 fours and five sixes as the supporters in Mohali were treated to some sublime hitting from the ‘Universe Boss’.
Meanwhile the Gayle-Rahul partnership at the top is working wonders for Punjab as they added yet another half-century stand. Gayle survived a close call early on in his innings but played a chanceless innings after that as the misery for the Bangalore bowlers and skipper Virat Kohli continued.
While Umesh Yadav went for 42 off his four, Mohammed Siraj went for 54. Yuzvendra Chahal picked up two wickets and was the best of the lot.
Earlier, Kohli won the toss and elected to bowl first. However, the decision backfire as none of their bowlers were able to produce any major threat for the Kings batsmen.
Twitter relished yet another cracking knock from the big hitting West Indian batsmen and this is what they had to say.
