Kolkata Knight Riders aided by Andre Russell’s knock of a 44-ball 50 managed to finish with 108/8 against Chennai Super Kings after they were asked to bat by MS Dhoni on a slow Chepauk wicket.
CSK’s spin trio of Harbhajan Singh, Imran Tahir and Ravindra Jadeja took five wickets among themselves after Deepak Chahar rattled through the KKR top order as took three wickets in his first three overs.
The pitch in Chennai was slow and stroke play was difficult as none of the top-order batsmen were able to come up with any substantial score.
Kolkata were down to 44 for 5 in nine overs when Andre Russell came into bat. He scored an unbeaten 50 as Kolkata reached 109/8 in their 20 overs.
