Shubman Gill scored his third fifty in the last four innings as an opener to help Kolkata Knight Riders win a must-win match against Kings XI Punjab on Friday, 3 May. With this win, KKR managed to stay alive in the race for the playoffs with 12 points.
Gill and Chris Lynn opened the innings for KKR and added 62 inside the powerplay to give Kolkata a rollicking start. Gill then build on the good work and carved out a brilliant knock. He finished unbeaten on 65 as KKR eased past the KXIP total in the 18th over.
Gill has scored 287 runs this season from 13 matches in the season so far.

Kolkata now play their last league game against Mumbai Indians at the Wankhede on Sunday, 5 May. A win with a better run-rate than Sunrisers can only take them to the playoffs.
