Chennai Super Kings’ Shane Watson might not have been successful in guiding his side home for a record fourth IPL title against Mumbai Indians on Sunday, but the Australian cricketer garnered a lot of respect for his dedication to the game during the final.

Watson’s teammate Harbhajan Singh on Monday revealed how Watson batted through with a pain during the IPL final in Hyderabad despite injuring his knee during the match.

According to the off-spinner, Watson received six stitches on his left leg after Watson dived to save his wicket during his knock. Harbhajan posted a picture on his Instagram of Watson’s left leg from the final, which was evidently bleeding.

"Can you guys see the blood on his knee.. He got 6 stitches after the game..Got injured while diving but continue to bat without telling anyone," Harbhajan wrote on Instagram and shared a picture as well.

Like last edition of the IPL, Watson nearly pulled off the 150-run chase against Mumbai Indians as he scored a 59-ball 80. Eventually, Chennai fell short by by one run after Lasith Malinga bowled an excellent final over to defend 9 runs.

Foe Watson, IPL 2019 was mixed bag as he failed to get going during the league stage of the tournament, barring an isolated 96 against Sunrisers Hyderabad at Chepauk in Chennai.

The team management continued to show their trust in Watson despite batting failures and Watson repaid them by coming into his elements during the playoffs.

Apart from the 80 in the final, Watson scored a 50 against Delhi Capitals in the second qualifier of IPL 2019.
