The game between England and Australia saw two legendary cricketers reunite at the Mecca of Cricket Lord’s. Former national captains of India and Australia, Sunil Gavaskar and Allan Border were in attendance for the highly-anticipated clash on Tuesday, 25 June.
The ICC posted a tweet on their official handle of the duo posing for a picture together.
Legendary cricketers of there era, two of the best-ever in the game, Gavaskar and Border were the two quickest batsmen to scale 10,000 runs in Test cricket. Cricketers with great repertoire and hailed as among the best of their generation, both are great friends off the pitch as well.
After their retirement from international cricket, both of them have turned commentators and are now a part of the commentary team for the World Cup.
Both Gavaskar and Border are also part of World Cup winning teams. While Gavaskar was a part of India’s 1983 World Cup winning squad, Border led Australia to their maiden World Cup win in 1987.
