India booked a spot in the semi-finals of the 2019 ICC World Cup, courtesy their 28-run win over Bangladesh at Edgbaston. They are now placed second in the points table with 13 points. This win also means that Bangladesh have now been eliminated from the tournament.
Rohit Sharma’s ton and Jasprit Bumrah’s four-wicket haul helped India register a win against the Bangla Tigers. Hardik Pandya also took three key wickets to stem Bangladesh’s run flow.
Bangladesh chasing 315 to win, as expected gave India a tough fight. Shakib scored his fourth fifty of the competition, scoring a 66.
Also, just when everyone thought that the game was over for The Tigers, Shabbir Rahman (36) and Mohammad Saifuddin (51*) led a fightback.
The duo shared a 66-run stand and kept Bangladesh in the hunt right till the end. However, Bumrah returned in the end to clean up the tail as Bangladesh fell short by 28 runs.
