South Africa succumbed to their second successive loss in the 2019 World Cup as they lost by 21 runs against Bangladesh chasing 331 for victory at the Oval in London on Sunday, 2 June.

Despite all the South Africa batsmen getting starts, none of them went onto make it big as South Africa capitulated for the second time in two games

The openers gave South Africa a good start, but a bad mix-up between Aiden Markram and Quinton de Kock broke their partnership. Skipper Faf du Plessis then scored 62 but failed to convert it into a something substantial as his dismissal meant that South Africa were in further trouble.

The middle and the lower-order of South Africa always were behind the asking rate with the Bangladesh spinners keeping a check on the run-rate in the middle-overs.

Bangladesh thus created a sort of an upset in their very first World Cup game against a favored South African side. Twitter too congratulated them for their effort and had their say on the game as well. Here’s how they reacted to Bangladesh’s win over South Africa.

Earlier in the game, a record-breaking 142-run partnership between Shakib al Hasan and Mushfiqur Rahim laid the platform for their final score of 330/6 which is also Bangladesh’s highest ever ODI score.
