Babar Azam’s maiden World Cup ton (101*) scripted a crucial 6-wicket win for Pakistan as they ended New Zealand’s unbeaten run in the 2019 ICC World Cup. The win also helps Pakistan keep their hopes alive for a place in the semi-finals.
They now have 7 points from 7 matches and are currently placed 6th in the standings, behind Bangladesh.
The Men in Green have now won two back-to-back games after their loss to India on 16 June. They defeated South Africa by 49 runs on Sunday, 23 June and now have registered a six-wicket win over the Kiwis on Wednesday, 26 June.
Following the turnaround in form and fortunes, the Pakistan team was congratulated on Twitter for their big win against New Zealand. There was also many who hailed Babar Azam for his unbeaten century.
Pakistan’s last two matches, against Afghanistan (29 June) and Bangladesh (5 July), are both must-win games if they are to make the semi-finals of the World Cup.
