The ‘josh’ was high all across India on Tuesday, 26 February. The morning began with news trickling in of the Indian Air Force striking terror camps in Pakistan-administered areas across the Line of Control, days after the Pulwama terror attack that martyred 40 CRPF jawans.
Soon, India was rejoicing on social media – with celebrities from different walks of life coming together to hail the response to the attacks on 14 February.
From politicians to cricketers to Bollywood A-listers, the country wore a patriotic look through the day (at least as far as Twitter/Facebook/Instagram was concerned).
Indian men’s cricket team captain Virat Kohli wasn’t one to be left behind.
Kohli posted a picture from India’s training session ahead of their second T20I against Australia at Bengaluru, with the caption ‘How’s the Josh?’ – a fabled call to duty in the country ever since the release of Uri: The Surgical Strike.
While some of his other teammates, such as Shikhar Dhawan and Yuzvendra Chahal, issued more direct posts commending the IAF on their social media handles, captain Kohli opted to go simply with the tagline of the year.
Whether it was his way of saluting the troops, or rallying his own Team India troops – or both – only Kohli can tell.
On the field, the 30-year-old will hope for a response from his unit in the must-win clash against the Aussies on Wednesday, 27 February. Having lost a thrilling series-opener in a last-ball finish at Visakhapatnam, the Men in Blue need to win in Bengaluru to preserve their unbeaten streak in T20I series at home since October 2015.
