The Chennai Super Kings are on a high after creating history by being the only team to reach the Indian Premier League finals seven times. Two-time champions CSK marched into the final of the IPL after Faf du Plessis smashed a blistering 67 not out to fashion their thrilling two-wicket victory against Sunrisers Hyderabad on Tuesday.
The official handle of the CSK tweeted a video of the celebrations in the dressing room, giving us a sneak peek into the mood of the team. In the video, Dwayne Bravo and Harbhajan Singh are seen celebrating and dancing in front of captain Mahendra Singh Dhoni.
The CSK tweeted that Bravo was paying a “groovy tribute” to the captain.
Dhoni, however, was only witness to the performance and did not join the party.
Current and former players of the CSK also took to social media to post celebratory messages to the team.
The team was also seen singing their “theme” song on the bus.
Chasing 140 to reach the final for the seventh time, Chennai were gasping at 62 for six when South African Du Plessis mounted a spectacular counter-attack to see them home with five balls to spare at Mumbai's Wankhede Stadium.
The opener scored the winning run with his fourth six, which must have pleased skipper Mahendra Singh Dhoni who had sealed India's victory in the 2011 World Cup final against Sri Lanka at the same venue in a similar fashion.
Hyderabad can still make Sunday’s final, for which they will need to beat the winner of Thursday’s eliminator between Kolkata Knight Riders and Rajasthan Royals.
