Dipa Karmakar made history on Sunday after becoming the first Indian female gymnast to take part in the Olympics. Dipa, who finished with a total score of 51.665 was placed at 27th after all the athletes in her subdivision participated in all four rotations.

With a cumulative score of 14.850, the 22-year-old is now through to the vault final scheduled for Sunday.

Vault

Karmakar, who scored 14.850 points in the vault rotation, recorded the best score among the gymnasts in her group. In her first vault, she was given 15.1 points – 7 for difficulty and 8.1 for execution and in her second vault, she was given 14.6 points – 6 for difficulty and 8.6 for execution.

Uneven Bars

Dipa recorded her worst result at Uneven bars among all the four rotations. Karmakar was given a decent score of 7.166 for execution but for difficulty the gymnast was given a low score of 4.5.

Floor Exercise

The gymnast from Agartala’s third best rotation was the floor exercise. Dipa, who was placed at 44 in the floor exercise rotation at the end of her subdivision’s participation, was given 7.133 points for execution and 5.2 points for difficulty.

Beam

Karmakar’s second best rotation at the Rio Olympics was Beam, where she recorded a score of 12.866 points. She got 7.566 points for execution and 5.3 poitns for difficulty.

The 22-year-old was placed at 38th in the Beam category after her subdivision finished performing all the rotations.
