Season 12 of popular Indian reality show Bigg Boss has provided several headlines pertaining to sport owed largely to the presence of one S Sreesanth in the household. The tainted former India fast bowler has shared several details of his tumult-ridden times in the sport with fellow Bigg Boss inmates, but the latest outpour of emotion is sure to gain a lot of eyeballs.

In a shocking revelation, Sreesanth has said he contemplated committing suicide after the infamous IPL spot-fixing scandal which eventually consumed his cricket career.

The episode aired on Monday, 26 November, saw the now 35-year-old break down after claiming innocence in a conversation with fellow contestants.

A long-drawn saga ever since the spot-fixing scandal broke out during IPL 2013 has ebbed largely against Sreesanth, with the Supreme Court bar him from playing professional cricket in any other country, having earlier already imposed a life-ban on the once-promising fast bowler.

Sreesanth was one of three cricketers banned for life (the others being Ajit Chandila and Ankeet Chavan) after a spot-fixing incident during a match between Rajasthan Royals and Chennai Super Kings was spotted by anti-corruption officials during the sixth season of the IPL.

Having been acquitted in the case in 2015, Sreesanth said he was depressed to see his career fade away in front of his eyes, and that the episode even led to him considering to attempt suicide at one point.

Sreesanth – who took 169 wickets in 90 international appearances across formats over the course of a six-year India career – couldn’t keep his emotions in check while stating his dismay at even being barred from entering a cricket field in his life.

A small clipping of the episode was released on Colors TV’s social handles, and their post on Instagram elicited a somewhat distasteful response from Raj Kundra. In a now-removed reply, the banned ex-Rajasthan Royals owner commented with a laughing emoticon followed by “Epic”, effectively laughing off Sreesanth’s claims.

In a separate thread on Twitter, Sreesanth’s wife, Bhuvneshwari, retaliated to Kundra’s comments.
