The Indian cricket team is slogging it out in their World Cup opener against South Africa in Southampton but they have some special supporters in the stands with Ajinkya Rahane and Sachin Tendulkar both turning out to cheer for their national team.
India’s Test vice-captain Rahane last played an ODI for India in Feb 2018 and while he had hoped to get selected for the World Cup, he missed the bus with younger players taking up the batsmen’s slots. The cricketer however chose to make the most of his off-time and is currently playing County cricket for Hampshire.
Incidentally, India’s World Cup opener is in Southampton, which is the largest city in Hampshire, and the cricketer took time out to support the Men in Blue.
He however wasn't the only one with Sachin Tendulkar too making the journey for India’s big match.
Virat Kohli and his team clearly did not disappoint as they managed to restrict the Proteas to 227/9 in 50 overs with Chahal picking 4 wickets and Bumrah making the early inroads.
