Abhinav Bindra Qualifies for 10m Air Rifle Finals, But Only Just

Gagan Narang fails to make the cut.

2008 Olympic gold medalist Abhinav Bindra secured a qualification for the finals of 10m Air Pistol on Monday.

The Indian shooting contingent that had pretty rough two days at Rio will now have something to smile about. India’s flag bearer made the cut with 625.7 points and secured 7th rank.

10m air rifle shooting is the only event in which the five time Olympian will represent India.

Meanwhile, India’s second competitor in the category, Gagan Narang failed to secure the qualification. The eight time gold medal winner at the Commonwealth Games had a dismal outing and managed only 23rd position with 621.7 Points.
