There are many records Sachin Tendulkar collected during his 24-year long career. Many among them, he still owns.
The unbeaten 200 against South Africa in Gwalior seven years back though, he will hold dear. It was the first time any cricketer has smashed a double century in one-day cricket.
The match saw Tendulkar open the batting with Virender Sehwag. Dale Steyn soon sent Viru back to the pavilion for 9. But that’s when the master blaster swung into action, piling up his record-shattering double century.
Watch the video highlights of his special innings below.
Thanks to Sachin’s innings, India posted a mammoth total of 401. South Africa, in reply, were bowled out for 248. S Sreesanth was the highest wicket-taker, with three strikes.
The result may have ended in India’s favour, but there is little else fans would remember that match by, other than The Master’s epic celebrations on reaching the 200-mark.
