Veteran Bollywood actor Rishi Kapoor earned the wrath of Twitterati on Sunday for his controversial tweet, when Mithali Raj and co were battling against England in the ICC Women’s World Cup 2017.
Kapoor took to Twitter to convey how he was “waiting for a repeat of Sourav Ganguly’s act on the balcony”. He was referring to Ganguly’s “act” of removing his jersey to celebrate winning the NatWest series at the Lords in 2002. His tweet suggested that he wanted to witness a similar act if India won the tournament.

Responding to the backlash, he tweeted in defense by asserting that there was nothing “wrong” in what he said. He added that he did not tweet that he wanted a female player to repeat Ganguly’s “act”. He also blamed other for having a “wrong mind”.
Some others asked him to accept his “mistake” and suggested how he could have used other photos to convey the same message.
