Portugal beat France in Euro Finale
Portugal have won the 2016 European Championship, after substitute Eder scored in extra time to give his team a 1-0 win over France.
Eder’s long-range shot that beat the despairing dive of France captain Hugo Lloris sealed a first ever major tournament win for Portugal, beating the hosts despite losing captain Cristiano Ronaldo to a first-half injury.
Ronaldo was taken off on a stretcher off in the 25th minute after he failed to recover from a heavy challenge by France’s attacking midfielder Dimitri Payet. He returned to sit on the bench, his left knee bandaged, and limped onto the pitch to encourage his teammates at the start of both periods of extra time.

Andy Murray Beat Raonic to Win Wimbledon Crown
Andy Murray won his second Wimbledon title by beating Milos Raonic 6-4, 7-6 (3), 7-6 (2) on Centre Court on Sunday.
Murray broke Raonic’s serve only once in the match, while the Canadian had some chances in the third set but failed to convert. The Briton had come into the tournament after losing to Novak Djokovic in the finals of both the Australian Open and French Open this year.
Raonic, who had been trying to become the first player representing Canada to win a major title, reached the final by beating seven-time Wimbledon champion Roger Federer in the semifinals.
Hamilton Wins British Grand Prix From Pole
Lewis Hamilton won his home British Grand Prix for the third year in a row on Sunday with Mercedes team mate and title rival Nico Rosberg finishing second but under a stewards’ investigation.
The triple Formula One world champion’s fourth home win, from pole position, was the 47th victory of Hamilton’s career and cut Rosberg’s overall lead to four points after 10 of 21 races. Rosberg was slowed by a gearbox problem with five laps remaining and crossed the line 6.9 seconds behind and with a question mark over his result after Mercedes seemingly broke the rules on radio advice by telling him to avoid seventh gear.
Red Bull’s Dutch teenager Max Verstappen was third, 1.3 seconds behind Rosberg, in a race that started behind the safety car after heavy rain.
Man United to Sack 8 Footballers to Rope in Pogba: Reports
Manchester United’s new chief coach Jose Mourinho will reportedly axe eight footballers as he tries to land Juventus’ French midfield sensation Paul Pogba, who has a nearly $130 million buy-out clause.
The Manchester United boss wants to work with 22 core men and the squad will also be trimmed with loans and sales. The Sun quoted a source as saying on Sunday: “Jose has made it clear he wants to work with 22 key players. It means up to eight players are heading out.”
Argentine defender Marcos Rojo, French midfielder Morgan Schneiderlin and German midfielder Bastian Schweinsteiger are most at risk after poor seasons. Adnan Januzaj was loaned last season and there are also doubts over Memphis Depay, Daley Blind and Juan Mata’s futures.
Pele Marries a 3rd Time at a Private Ceremony
Brazilian football legend Pele and his girlfriend got married in a private religious ceremony before family and a small group of friends this weekend in Brazil, media reports said.
Edson Arantes do Nascimento, known universally as Pele, married Marcia Cibele Aoki, a businesswoman of Japanese descent, at an upscale banquet hall in Guaruja, a city on the coast of Sao Paulo state, before 100 guests and away from news photographers and television cameras, the soccer legend’s publicists said.
Pele told reporters that he met his bride at a party in New York in 1980 and they reconnected after bumping into each other in the elevator of the luxury Sao Paulo building where they lived.
