1. India Wins Test Series After Two Years
India won the Test series 2-1 after beating Sri Lanka in the third Test by 117 runs in Colombo on Tuesday. This is their first Test series win in two years and their first away Test series win in four years. This is also their first Test series win in Sri Lanka in 22 years.
The visitors just needed seven wickets to seal the deal, but Sri Lanka made the Indians sweat for the victory. Angelo Mathews batted with a lot of determination and scored a brilliant hundred. Sri Lanka lost only one wicket of Kusal Perera in the second session. The visitors looked like they can save the Test match at tea.
But Ishant got rid of the Sri Lankan skipper straight after Tea with the new ball and then a couple of overs later, R Ashwin and Amit Mishra wrapped up the match for India.
2. Virat Kohli Tops T20 Rankings
While Virat Kohli was helping his team win their first Test series in two years, the Indian Test captain also moved to the top of the T20 rankings after Aaron Finch missed the game against England on Monday, which the visitors lost by 5 runs.
Finch, now trails the Indian star by seven points. England’s Alex Hales, South Africa’s Faf du Plessis and West Indies’ Chris Gayle are in the third, fourth and fifth position respectively.
India’s Suresh Raina is in the 11th position, whereas R Ashwin is 4th in the bowlers’ rankings.
3. Virat Heaps Praise on Ishant
Virat Kohli became only the third Indian captain to win a Test series after being down 0-1 and became the first Indian captain to do so on foreign soil. He was very proud with his team. He specifically lauded Ishant Sharma’s efforts and also credited the players who were sitting on the sidelines.
Ishant bowled his heart out and the Sri Lankans made him angry at the wrong time and that worked for us. Being 0-1 down was never easy. I was told it has never been done (away from home), so we created a bit of history. Even the guys who haven’t played, guys like Bhuvi (Bhuvneshwar Kumar) and Varun (Aaron) and Bhajji (Harbhajan Singh), ran around and helped everyone.

5. Di Maria Says, Van Gaal’s Philosophies Made Him Leave Manchester United
Angel di Maria has expressed that it was Manchester United manager, Louis van Gaal’s philosophies which made him leave the club and join the French club Paris Saint-Germain (PSG) earlier this month.
The Argentine star, who was signed for a record amount of 60 million pounds from Real Madrid added that he found it difficult to adapt to Van Gaal’s philosophies, which resulted in rows between them.
Van Gaal has his philosophy and one of the things that made me want to leave is that. It is difficult to adapt to Van Gaal. I had a couple of rows with him. I started well and after that I got injured. Things didn’t go well for me and Van Gaal changed my position.
