By bagging a silver medal at the 2016 Summer Paralympics, Deepa Malik did something which no other Indian woman Paralympian had done before. She became the Indian woman to win a medal in Paralympic Games.
And today she’s showing the way to other disabled woman like her, by telling them how ‘Sports Can Empower’. Shweta Sharma is one of them. Just a year after Deepa pushed her into sports, Deepa bagged a gold in shot put and a silver in javelin at the 16th National Para-athletics Championships in 2016. Shweta is a polio survivor, a single mother and a sportswoman. Life has been a struggle for her. She needs money for proper diet, a throw chair and for getting her category certification from abroad.
Deepa Malik is absolutely sure that Shweta can bag medals for India at international championship, she’s doing her bit by providing equipment and a bit of coaching.
This Diwali, Deepa Malik is appealing to everyone to come out and support Shweta Sharma. Help her achieve her goal.
