India in search of an equaliser in the second half got a penalty stroke after Rani Rampal referred a decision accurately but Gurjit could not put it away. The Germans struck back almost instantly as Anne Katarina Schroder scored. India had another chance to score before the end of the third quarter but Vandana Kataria missed a one on one chance.

Anna though saw a Green card soon after and had to sit out for 2 minutes.

In the 4th quarter, Sharmila Devi went off after getting a yellow card.

No goals today for the Indian women’s hockey team, who squandered a couple of very good chances though. Rani Rampal and co will definitely be very disappointed about the missed chances, especially after the defeat in the opening game.
