Commonwealth Games Day 9 Live: Boxer Sagar Wins Semi-final Bout

After the defeats of three Indian pugilists in semi-final bouts, Sagar Ahlawat has finally managed to break the streak as he emerged victoriously from his men's super-heavyweight match.

The 23-year-old always looked in control against Nigeria's Ifeanyi Onyekwere and was able to hand his opposition a comprehensive 5-0 defeat.

In the final bout, which will be played on August 8 at 1:15am IST, Sagar will be up against the winner of the clash between New Zealand's Leuila Mau'u and England's Delicious Orie.

Commonwealth Games Day 9 Live: Bhavina Wins Gold in TT

It is raining medals at the moment for the Indian contingent.

After Sonalben Patel's bronze triumph, paddler Bhavina Patel has won the gold medal in women's singles classes 3-5 category, beating Nigeria's Ifechukwude Christiana Ikpeoyi 12-10, 11-2, 11-9.

She becomes India's 40th medallist at the Commonwealth Games 2022, and 13th gold medallist.

Commonwealth Games Day 9 Live: Rohit Wins Bronze After Semi-final Defeat

Pugilist Rohit Tokas has won the bronze medal after losing out in the semi-final bout of men's welterweight category.

The 29-year-old was involved in a thrilling clash against Zambia's Stephen Zimba and both boxers had their moments in the bout, but ultimately, it was the latter who came up trumps to secure a 3-2 win on points.

Rohit becomes India's third boxer to confirm the colour of the medal, after Jaismine Lamboria and Mohammed Hussamuddin won bronze medals earlier today. He also is India's 40th medallist at the Commonwealth Games 2022.

Commonwealth Games Day 9 Live: Sonalben Wins TT Bronze

Sonalben Manubhai Patel claimed a bronze medal in women's singles classes 3-5 to secure India's second table tennis medal at the Commonwealth Games 2022.

The 34-year-old paddler defeated England's Sue Bailey 11-5 11-2 11-3 in the bronze medal play-off.
