Mayanti Langer, famous sports journalist and anchor, has had enough of people taking digs at her marriage with cricketer Stuart Binny, every time he doesn’t perform well on the field.
Dragging players’ partners into the blame game for their on-field performance is not new, there were sexist jokes aimed at Anushka Sharma after Virat Kohli’s poor World Cup performace last year.
Langer gave a fitting reply to the trolls and their insensitive remarks in an Instagram post.
Stuart Binny put up a bad show in the first T20 international against West Indies in Miami, Florida by conceding a staggering 32 runs in an over. The match was not in favour of the bowlers where both sides put up huge scores.
In that historic over, Evin Lewis hit Binny for five consecutive sixes which became one of the reasons for India’s loss to WI.
After his performance, Twitter not only trolled the right-hander but also took a dig at his wife Mayanti Langer as well.
A parody account of Amit Mishra tweeted this tagging a parody account of Ravindra Jadeja.
The Rajindra Jadeja account replied to the tweet.
A parody account of Stuart Binny tweeted the following.
It’s not the first time that the Twitterati have reacted to Binny’s poor performances on the field; they have been making fun of Binny and his journalist wife on regular basis.
Stuart Binny has not performed well for Team India and his inclusion in the team is a topic of discussion.
Mayanti Langer is a successful sports journalist who is doing her job quite well.
Back in May, when Stuart Binny was trolled, she took it sportingly and even gave fitting replies.
These trolls were distasteful and in bad humour. Anushka Sharma also had to face the wrath of Indian cricket fans as they blamed her for Virat’s failure.
In a country that is repeatedly coming in news for not treating its women right, we certainly are not setting the right example by trolling Mayanti Langer because of her husband.
