Kolkata Knight Riders, in their first season under new captain Dinesh Karthik, managed to fight their way into the IPL 2018 playoffs before coming short in the second qualifier against Sunrisers Hyderabad.
As their first buy for the 2019 season of the Indian Premier League the Knight Riders bought West Indies all-rounder Carlos Brathwaite for Rs 5 crore.
Brathwaite’s base price was Rs 75 lakh.
KKR released Australian pacer Mitchell Starc in the off-season, to come into the IPL 2019 Auction requiring a maximum of 12 purchases – five of which could be foreign players.
