“Carlos Brathwaite, remember the name”, were the words bellowed by Ian Bishop from the commentary box when the West Indian took his team over the line in sensational fashion in the final of the 2016 ICC World T20, smashing four sixes off four balls in the last over from Ben Stokes.
Three years on from that famous night, Brathwaite is set to return to the sight of his conquest – Eden Gardens – after being picked by Kolkata Knight Riders at the IPL 2019 Auction in Jaipur on Tuesday, 18 December.
The West Indian T20I captain became the first to breach the Rs 5 crore mark at the auction ahead of the 12th season of the IPL.
Brathwaite had represented Sunrisers Hyderabad in the previous edition of the IPL, while having played for Delhi in the 2016 and 2017 seasons.
