West Indies wicketkeeper and Caribbean Premier League (CPL) sensation Nicholas Pooran was bagged by Kings XI Punjab in the IPL auction 2019 for Rs 4.20 crore, entering the auction at his base price of Rs 75 lakh.
Pooran, who was bought at Rs 30 lakh at the 2017 auction by Mumbai Indians, went unsold in the 2018 auction.
He hit the headlines in the inaugural version of the CPL, walloping a 24-ball-54 for Trinidad and Tobago Steel against the Guyana Amazon Warriors. More recently, he caught eyeballs with an unbeaten 53 off just 25 balls in the third T20I at Chennai.
Pooran might prove to be a good buy for the team from Punjab, given it had no keepers in its side. Punjab have entered the auction with just 10 players and Rs 36.20 crore in its purse. KL Rahul was doing the job for them in the last IPL.
