A top-notch bowling display from three-time champions Chennai Super Kings saw Mumbai Indians finish with 149/8 in the final of IPL 2019 in Hyderabad on Sunday. Deepak Chahar was the wrecker-in-chief as he picked up 3 for 26.

Deciding to bat after winning the toss, openers Quinton de Kock and Rohit Sharma gave Mumbai Indians a dream start. Dealing only in sixes, de Kock hammered in-form Deepak Chahar for three sixes in an over.

But, Chennai pulled themselves back in the game in the span of four deliveries as both de Kock and Rohit Sharma were dismissed by Shardul Thakur and Deepak Chahar respectively.

The fall of wickets slowed things down Mumbai as Suryakumar Yadav and Ishan Kisan nudged along to take their team to 70/2 at the halfway mark. But, soon Imran Tahir (2/23) stuck twice to remove the duo. In the process, he overtook Delhi Capitals’ Kagiso Rabada to become the highest wicket-taker in IPL 2019.

Keiron Pollard was looking in his elements and Suresh Raina had dropped Hardik Pandya off Shardul Thakur (2/37) . Things were looking ominous for Chennai, but Deepak Chahar again came to the rescue as he picked up two wickets in the penultimate over of the match, including Hardik Pandya’s wicket.

Pollard was unbeaten on 41 as Bravo again came up with a superlative performance in the final over of the innings, giving away only 9 runs.
