Record Breaker - that’s the one tag that will follow a young 15-year-old from Mumbai for a long long time.
Unknown to most of the world before yesterday, Pranav Dhanawade became the first-ever batsman in history to score 1000+ runs in a match in any level of cricket, on Tuesday.
‘The prodigy’ as he’s fast been christened, finished the inter-school match on Monday unbeaten on 652 in the Bhandari Trophy, the equivalent of Harris Shield for Mumbai suburbs. Earlier today though, the auto driver’s son wasted no time to forge ahead, getting to the first-ever four-figure mark.
On cue, Twitter went crazy with celebrations of his massive feat.
Soon after his 1000 though, his high school team finally gave the bowlers some respite - declaring the innings at 1465.
Pranav had scored 1009 of those runs with the help of 59 maximums and 129 boundaries.
A feat so massive, even the biggies of the game sat up and took note.
The jokes though, weren’t far behind...
