Karun Nair played a brilliant knock of 83 runs from 53 balls to guide Delhi Daredevils to a six-wicket win over Sunrisers Hyderabad at Raipur on Friday.

While chasing Hyderabad’s modest total of 158/7, Delhi got off to a disastrous start after Quinton de Kock got out for just two runs in the second over.

Then Nair and Rishabh Pant strung a partnership of 73 runs which put Delhi in the driver’s seat.

Although, Hyderabad remained in the game until the last ball. After they got Pant run out, they kept chipping away with wickets. But Karun Nair ensured his team reaches home in the end.

Shikhar Dhawan and David Warner got Hyderabad off to a great start with a 46-run partnership.

Then Carlos Brathwaite got Shikhar Dhwan run out with a direct throw and Amit Mishra got D Hooda run out before Brathwaite dismissed Yuvraj Singh. Hyderabad were struggling at 66/3.

David Warner (73) and M Henriques settled the innings with a 39-run partnership but once Duminy dismissed Henriques, the Hyderabad batting order fell apart.

Shortly after Henriques’, Warner was dismissed by Brathwaite and Delhi restricted Hyderabad to 158/7 at the end of their 20 overs.

Hyderabad made things interesting when they chipped away with three wickets. First Pant was run out by Bhuvneshwar Kumar, then Sran dismissed Duminy for 17 runs before Brathwaite fell for 10 runs to Mustafizur Rahman.

But Nair held his nerve and along with Sanju Samson reduced the equation to 11 runs from the last over. With six runs required from the last two balls, Nair smashed two fours to wrap up the match.
