Liverpool fans on Wednesday, 17 April, were delighted after a Video Assistant Referee (VAR) review in the second leg quarter-final of the Champions League game against Porto, awarded the Reds a goal.
At the 26th minute of the game, a goal by the Senegalese winger, Sadio Mane was disallowed after the linesman hurled the flag up, indicating for an offside. But the decision was quickly reversed as the VAR review “correctly” confirmed that Mane had been onside.
The moment was hailed by fans on Twitter, as the goal gave Liverpool a lead in the crucial game against the Portuguese club.
Liverpool advanced to Champions League semi-finals for the second consecutive year on 6-1 aggregate and will face the Spanish giants, Barcelona.
