Kolkata is known as the football capital of the country, and the footy World Cup this year around means that Durga Puja has come twice for the city. The streets are decked up, chaa-dokaan addas have switched from politics, every para is littered with flags and everyone is wearing fandom on their sleeves.

Yes, this auto-dada too!

Now, the white-and-blue combination is not alien to the streets of Kolkata with it being the chief minister’s colour code, but this time around, the streets have donned these colours for Argentina.

Argentina and Brazil have always been the favourites in Kolkata every World Cup.

Local clubs usually do up different parts of their localities with wall graffiti and flags. Again, almost everything involves either Argentina or Brazil.

A local sweet shop has also made a miniature World Cup out of sandesh!

There are also figurines made of sandesh, and a sandesh football-ground cake too!

Street corners are also abuzz with World Cup memorabilia.
