The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) has reportedly decided to pay new head coach Ravi Shastri a salary, which could go upto Rs 8 crore per annum.
The top brass of BCCI unanimously decided Shastri’s perks, which are at least a crore more than previous coach Anil Kumble’s salary of Rs 6.5 crore, reported PTI.
Earlier this year, Kumble had not only asked for a 150 percent hike in the salaries of Grade A players, but also for a substantial increment for the support staff, including himself.
Shastri himself had said that the players deserved more, “a lot more”.
The three other coaches – Bharat Arun, R Sridhar and Sanjay Bangar – are expected to be bracketed between Rs 2-3 crore taking into account that they need to be compensated for foregoing their IPL contracts.
