Delhi Daredevils put in a fantastic bowling display to knock Mumbai Indians out of IPL 2018 by defeating them by 11 runs in Delhi on Sunday. In a must-win game, Mumbai’s batting order failed miserably to get bundled out on 163 while chasing a modest 175.
Mumbai found it very difficult to hit the spinners in the middle overs, as Amit Mishra and Sandeep Lamichhanne returned with 3 wickets each.
In an exciting chase, despite losing wickets at regular intervals, Mumbai kept up a healthy scoring rate and kept the packed stadium on the edge of their seats till the very end, but DD’s disciplined bowling proved to be too much for them in the end.

Suryakumar Yadav (12) started the chase on a positive note, hitting Lamichhane for a four and a six in his first two balls, but was caught at long-on in his third attempt.
Wickets kept falling in regular intervals for the Mumbai Indians.
Maxwell and Boult combined to take two magnificent catches close to the sight screen that were destined to be sixes, to dismiss Pollard (7) and captain Rohit Sharma (13).
A late flourish from Ben Cutting(37) brought the match closer in the last 5 overs, but once he fell in the second ball of the final over, it was as good as over for the visitors.
Earlier Delhi were off to a flying start with openers Prithvi Shaw (12) and Glenn Maxwell (22) punishing Jasprit Bumrah and Krunal Pandya all around the ground.
The two of them added 30 runs in just three overs before Shaw virtually gifted away his wicket with his casual run-out.
Rishabh was the highest-scorer for Delhi Daredevils, scoring 64 runs off 44 balls. His knock included four hits to the fence and an equal number of sixes. Vijay shored up the run rate late in the innings and remained unbeaten on 43 runs off 30 deliveries.
This defeat now means Mumbai are out of the tournament with 12 points from their 14 games and makes it a two-way competition between Rajasthan Royals and Kings XI Punjab for the final spot for the play-offs.
