MS Dhoni Sues Amrapali Group Over Dues Worth Rs 150 Crore: Report

Last year, Dhoni resigned as the brand ambassador of Amrapali Group.

Former Indian Cricket team skipper Mahendra Singh Dhoni has sued embattled real estate company Amrapali Group over unpaid dues worth Rs 150 crore, a report in The Economic Times said on Thursday, 12 April.

The report adds that Rhiti Sports, an agency that manages the sportstar, has filed the recovery suit in the Delhi High Court alleging that Dhoni hasn’t been paid in years.

The Amrapali Group has not paid the dues for branding and marketing activities Managing Director of Rhiti Sports Arun Pandey was quoted as saying by the business newspaper.

The Chennai Super Kings star who represented the company for the six to seven years resigned as its brand ambassador in April, last year.

Dhoni backed away from the builder after unhappy customers of a housing project in Noida launched a social media campaign asking the cricketer to dissociate himself.

The Amrapali Group has liabilities of about Rs 3,000 crore towards authorities, owes over Rs 1,000 crore to about 10 banks, and needs about Rs 3,000 crore to complete its ongoing projects.

On Wednesday, the Supreme Court directed the real estate major to submit details of the amount it required to complete its housing projects and also a proposal on shifting buyers from projects that are at a nascent stage.
