Former India captain MS Dhoni is the highest individual tax payer in Jharkhand for the financial year 2017-18. The 37-year-old paid Rs 12.17 crore income tax in the last financial year, which is Rs 1.24 crore more as compared to 2016-17, according to the Hindustan Times.

Dhoni had paid Rs 10.93 crore as income tax in 2016-17 but he was not the highest tax payer in that fiscal.

MS Dhoni failed to perform in the recently concluded ODI series against England, scoring just 79 runs in two innings at a dismal strike rate of 63.20.

There were rumours of Dhoni’s retirement after he asked for the match ball at the end of the third ODI. However, head coach Ravi Shastri rubbished all the speculation.

MS is not going anywhere. MS wanted to show the ball to Bharat Arun. He wanted to show him the wear and tear the ball had endured, to get a general idea of what the conditions were like. But right now, all this clamour is nonsense. He just wanted to show the ball to Arun to just have a look at it after close to 45 overs had been bowled.
Ravi Shastri told The Times of India
