On Wednesday, Mahendra Singh Dhoni’s play in the Vijay Hazare Trophy quarterfinal was interrupted by a curious incident. During the match, a young fan managed to evade security and ran into the centre strip, where MSD was standing at the non-striker’s end.
The fan put forth a white sheet of paper ( and mind you, the match is still going on!). Now, Dhoni is no stranger to fanfare and to the young man’s pleasant surprise, MSD obliged him with an autograph.
While Dhoni signed the sheet, the fan couldn’t help but make most of the moment. He dove to touch the former Indian captain’s feet and take his blessings, before he was escorted out of the field.
Earlier this year, another MSD fan broke free from the packed crowd at the Brabourne Stadium in Mumbai, during the India A game against England, to touch the batsman-wicketkeeper’s feet.
