Jaydev Unadkat became the highest paid Indian in this year’s IPL auction after he was picked up by Rajasthan Royals for Rs 11.5 crore on the second day.

He is only behind Ben Stokes, who was also bought by Rajasthan Royals, for Rs 12.5 crore.

Unadkat did well in last year’s IPL season with the Rising Pune Super GiantS, when he picked 24 wickets in 12 matches. He ended up taking the second highest number of wickets at the end of the season, just behind Bhuvneshwar Kumar.

Unadkat also picked up a hat-trick against Sunrisers Hyderabad last season. The 24-year-old pulled off a wicket maiden over in the last over of the match at a time when he had to defend 13 runs, something that might have had a huge role to play in him being the most expensive Indian player.

Unadkat, who has been selected to be a part of the T20 squad in South Africa, played a three-match series against Sri Lanka in 2017, where he took four wickets.

He made his debut for India against South Africa in 2010 Test match at Centurion, replacing an injured Zaheer Khan.
