As expected Indian Under-19 captain Prithvi Shaw went for six-time his base price of Rs 20 lakh to Delhi Daredevils in the IPL auction in Bengaluru.
Mumbai Indians and Delhi Daredevils were involved in a bidding war but in the end the team from Delhi managed to fetch Shaw at Rs 1.2 crore.
The wonder boy from Thane created ripples in the domestic circuit when he scored five centuries for Mumbai in the Ranji Trophy this season.
Prithvi’s batting stance, his bat flow, and the shots he plays has compelled former cricketers to draw a comparison with Sachin Tendulkar.
Currently leading the under-19 side in the World Cup in New Zealand, Shaw has already scored two half centuries for his side in four matches. The Indian side, who has remained unbeaten in the tournament, is slated to play Pakistan in the semifinal on Tuesday.
Prithvi along with his under-19 teammates were expected rake in big bucks in the auction.
