Royal Challengers Bangalore captain Virat Kohli has been fined Rs 12 lakh for maintaining slow over-rate during their Indian Premier League (IPL) match against Chennai Super Kings in Bengaluru on Wednesday, 25 April.

Courtesy AB de Villiers and Quinton de Kock’s half-centuries, RCB had posted a challenging total of 205 for 8 in their 20 overs. However, it was Ambati Rayudu’s 53-ball 82 and MS Dhoni’s unbeaten 70 off 34 balls that helped CSK cross the line with two balls to spare.

"As it was his team's first offence of the season under the IPL's Code of Conduct relating to minimum over-rate offences, Kohli was fined Rs 12 lakh," an IPL press release said.
